How To Sublimate Mugs
Sublimation printing on mugs is an excellent way to create vibrant, long-lasting custom designs. Follow these simple steps for flawless results:
Step 1: Print Your Artwork in Reverse
- Mirror Your Design: Always mirror your design before printing. This ensures proper image transfer onto the mug.
- Dry Completely: Allow the ink to dry thoroughly to prevent smudging during handling.
Step 2: Wrap the Design Around the Mug
- Center and Align: Ensure the design is perfectly centered and straight on the mug.
- Secure with Tape: Use heat-resistant tape to keep the design in place, ensuring it stays snug against the mug.
- Precut Paper: Simplify the process with Mugsie’s precut sublimation paper.
Step 3: Transfer Process
- Preheat the Heat Press: Set the heat press to approximately 355°F (180°C) for sublimation.
- Position the Mug: Carefully place the wrapped mug into the heat press.
- Set the Timer: Follow the recommended transfer time, typically between 3 to 5 minutes.
Step 4: Cool and Unwrap
- Cool Down: Allow the mug to cool before removing the paper. Use a fan for faster cooling.
- Peel Off Gently: Remove the sublimation paper carefully to reveal the vibrant design.
